This role presents an exciting opportunity to deliver the MCST (Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy) programme for Age UK Reading
The programme offers enjoyable weekly sessions where group members take part in stimulating games and activities designed to assist those with mild to moderate dementia in maintaining their memory and thinking skills. Other potential benefits include increased confidence and friendship which could lead to a better quality of life.
Fun really is right at the heart of it all and you will need to develop creative theme-based subjects to facilitate discussion and participation. As a confident communicator who is sensitive in dealing with people within a group situation, you will encourage involvement whilst having compassion and consideration for individuals’ varied health issues and personalities.
Experience of working in health/social care, working with older people, as a volunteer or paid /unpaid carer would be desirable
Approx 6 hrs per week but may be opportunity to be involved in other day services
Full training and mentorship will be provided
You may also require access to a motor vehicle for community working.
