The we-help-you-fix-it bicycle workshop for Reading.
We are an entirely volunteer run, not-for-profit organisation founded to encourage cycling by making low cost bicycle maintenance available to all.
Whether you have a bike that’s been sitting in the garage for years and you want to get cycling again, or just need some advice and access to tools then Reading Bicycle Kitchen can help.
We welcome bike donations and refurbish these to donate to local organisations with people in need or sell at low cost enabling many essential journeys to be made by bike!
We are actively seeking volunteers and will help you develop bike maintenance skills working with our expert mechanics!
Reading Bicycle Kitchen is a fix-it-yourself bicycle maintenance project opening in April 2014. The scheme allows cyclists to hire a workstand and get access to professional tools, with knowledgeable volunteer mechanics there to support them if and when needed.
Key activities include:
- drop-in fix-it-yourself sessions
- maintenance training classes
- women only sessions
- young people clubs
- no wage individuals working towards earning a bike

The scheme will also act as a community hub for the Reading cycling scene and, through recycling used bikes and parts, will help reduce the number of cycles going to landfill and increase the affordability of cycling in the area.
