Schools and Community Mentor – closing date 26 November 2022

Starting Point, a project of the Mustard Tree Foundation has a great new opportunity for someone who is keen to work with young people and see lives changed.

The key tasks of the role are:

  • Meet with a caseload of young people in local schools and community – helping them access support in the community or matching them to a Volunteer Mentor for long term mentoring.
  • Oversight of a team of volunteer mentors
  • Provide 1-2-1 mentoring for up to 5 young people.
  • Support with training and coordinating volunteer Navigators, leading up to 2 A&E shifts a month (Tuesday and/or Friday evenings).
  • Develop relationships with referrers and local community groups
  • Complete monitoring, recording, and reporting on young people.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with staff at local schools and other partners.
  • Represent the Charity and its ethos.

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with young people aged 11-25 (in either a professional or voluntary capacity) and understands the causes and effects of why young people might end up in A&E or not engaging positively with school. We would welcome applications from people with lived experience of the challenges that the young people are facing.
