The Weller Centre is a vibrant local community centre, which was remodelled, substantially rebuilt and re-opened two years ago. The management of the centre is a joint venture between the Earley Charity and Reading Borough Council.

We require a Community Learning and Outreach Manager who will lead on the delivery of an outcomes focused, neighbourhood and community learning programme at the Weller Centre. This work will be undertaken in partnership with local people and a range of services, agencies and stakeholders, by working on projects which impact on community safety, health inequality, unemployment, youth provision, social cohesion and improvements to the public realm.

The key responsibilities are to identify educational, training and employability needs of the community, act as an ambassador for the Centre and ensure compliance with legislation associated with running a community centre.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate empathy, sensitivity, and excellent interpersonal skills. They will be a strong administrator, analytical, report on outputs and outcomes of the learning programmes and recommend improvements. Experience of working in the community/voluntary sector is required. The post requires some weekend and evening working.
