Job purpose
- To provide direct links with local schools, businesses, local authorities and networks to develop, motivate and inspire acceptance for all LGBT+ people and stamp out homophobia.
- To lead and provide first class support services to those affected by LGBT+ issues and challenges.
- Deliver value for money ensuring continued support and funding.
Main duties and tasks
- Lead and provide first class support services to those affected by LGBT+ issues and challenges.
- Lead a team of volunteers and staff to deliver support and community projects and resources.
- Identify, analyse and develop understanding of the needs of LGBT+ people, plan and deliver programmes related to areas such as health, fitness, smoking, drugs, relationships and bullying.
- Create and drive arts-based activities, community/environmental projects, residential activities, outdoor education and sporting activities.
- Befriend and support individuals in various safe settings.
- Mentor and support individuals to encourage social inclusion.
- Undertake administrative tasks, verifying information and responding to queries
- Meet, liaise and network with police, educational establishments, social services, job agencies, youth offending teams and other agencies to address issues and promote opportunities for young people.
- Work with parents and community groups to win support for improved provision and acting as an advocate for young people’s interests.
