Bringing together Reading’s community groups, charities, friends and neighbours taking action on loneliness and social isolation.
It will be an opportunity for people to find out more about supporting clients and their carers, who are experiencing loneliness.
Event theme: The impact of Extreme Weather on Loneliness
We will discuss the impact extreme weather can have on loneliness. We will explore the impacts on individuals and the services that support them, looking at the practical mitigations that groups are already taking to ensure they can continue to deliver services safely, and what further steps might be needed in the future.
The August forum will be an opportunity to meet and hear from the new project coordinator, Steve Hendry, and discuss ideas for the future of Ready Friends and the Befriending forum in the coming years.
We will also be joined by RVA’s Summer intern, Charlotte Simms, who will present the findings of her research into the Local Voluntary Sector workforce.
The programme will include more time for informal networking and an opportunity to share news, promote your service and find out about funding, events and training. Refreshments provided.
