The new government has outlined its legislative agenda in respect of planned changes to Employment Law. Two new Employment Bills will be introduced:
- The Employment Rights Bill 2024 – which will implement several of Labour’s workers’ rights pledges, including strengthening family leave entitlement, reforming SSP, and scrapping minimum wage age bands.
- The Equality (Race and Disability) Bill 2024 –
which will introduce mandatory ethnicity and disability pay gap reporting, plus equal pay rights for ethnic minorities and people with disabilities.
While these changes are unlikely to come into force immediately given the various procedural steps that are required once legislation is passed, momentum is gathering, and it’s important that employers are informed and ready. RVA will keep you posted on developments.
