Administration volunteer needed for Reading Voluntary Action (RVA) in RG1

Reading Voluntary Action delivers a Social Prescribing service which aims to link patients with voluntary and community activities to support their health and wellbeing. It is about connecting people to non-medical sources of support.

We receive referrals from GPs and practice staff, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, and Talking Therapies. We currently only accept referrals for patients  registered with Reading practices.

We are seeking a volunteer to support our team of Social Prescribers.  This will include:

  • liaising with patients and GP practices to arrange appointments
  • researching activities and support to meet individual patients’ needs
  • managing our referral database
  • photocopying (and shredding) confidential paperwork

You also need to be computer literate and be able to input information into our database.  You will be a good team player, confident on the telephone and capable of working under pressure.

You would be working in a supportive environment and will be provided with the necessary training with an opportunity to learn new skills.
