DIY / Maintenance volunteers needed for Berkshire Women’s Aid
BWA provides a range of services to enable people in situations of domestic abuse to make choices about their future and to rebuild their lives.
We are seeking volunteer housekeepers to work directly with our refuge team to ensure we provide a safe, clean and homely environment for residents an their children to live in.
After training and with support from a supervisor, responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in cleaning refuge accommodation, including communal areas, offices, kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms.
- Helping with the sorting of seasonal donations of clothing and food.
- Garden maintenance and tidying
- Updating national website with refuge space availability.
Volunteers for this role will need to be reliable, punctual with good communication skills and able to demonstrate a mature, empathic and non-judgemental attitude to service users. The ability to respect and maintain confidentiality is essential.
Possession of a full UK diving license would be desirable but is not essential.

Training will consist of an introduction to BWA and its work, professional boundaries, domestic violence and access to relevant E-learning resources.
