NYAS is a national children’s rights charity working in partnership with Children’s Services across the UK.

We recruit, train and support adult volunteers to be Independent Visitors for children and young people who are looked-after by their local authority.

Independent visitors act as befrienders to young people in care, offering them positive activities and role models within their lives.

We are looking for volunteers who

• have patience
• are flexible
• are determined to make a difference
• have a non-judgmental attitude
• have a good sense of humour

You will need to commit a few hours each month for at least two years. In return for your commitment we will give you training, on-going support as well as a budget to cover fun activities and travel expenses

You don’t need any special qualifications, just a child focused approach and the ability to organise fun and new experiences.

We are looking for a diverse range of volunteers that we can match with our diverse range of young people.
