Support volunteers needed for Trust House Reading

Trust House Reading have vacancies for helpline volunteers – could you help?

If you feel passionately about supporting people affected by rape and sexual abuse then we would be delighted to hear from you.

We are currently recruiting volunteers for our confidential helpline based in Reading.

Helpline volunteers aim to support survivors of rape and sexual abuse by:

  • providing emotional support to survivors as well as those who support them, such as friends and family
  • providing a safe space to talk
  • giving information and signposting other relevant services
  • helping people to access Trust House Reading’s other specialist services.

We ask helpline volunteers to commit to one 3-4 hour shift per week as well as a monthly clinical supervision group.

The role is typically suitable for someone who may already have some experience in supporting others in another capacity or someone who may be starting to train in this area for example; nursing, counselling, social work, teaching.

Equally we do have volunteers on our helpline who don’t have any working experience in any therapeutic capacity but bring a great deal of life experience to the role to support others.
After this volunteers start to work shadow senior help-liners on the helpline. If this is something you’d be interested in please contact us to receive an application form.

To volunteer with us you must be over the age of 18 and have a satisfactory DBS check.

Thank you for taking an interest in our work.
