We have been empowering and inspiring young people in Berkshire for over 80 years, helping with transition from childhood to young adulthood, supporting young people to reach their full potential and make a positive contribution to their communities. Berkshire Youth is the only organisation in the Royal County that continues work across the county to advocate the case for all young people.
Our longstanding Chair is retiring and we are looking for a future Chair who has the drive and commitment to inspire. You will take the lead in arguing the case for young people, ensuring that the resources to enable Berkshire Youth exist, to turn our mission into action.
You would be Chair-designate for approx. three months, then fully take on the Chair’s role. We have a diverse Board of trustees, currently eight, some recently-appointed, others more longstanding, including those with commercial and corporate backgrounds, some with long associations with youth movements, some newer to our mission.
This is a high-profile appointment, with strong commitment to the future of young people an essential quality, plus an understanding of the value of youth work.
Similarly, a good grasp of the local political and funding environment is important, experience of committee or similar work, and a strong focus to cooperatively shape the stable and forward-looking Board also part of the qualities we are looking for.
We want to expand the diversity of our Board, in all aspects and we welcome potential trustees with ideas and expertise from a variety of backgrounds.
