Transition Towns aims to encourage a more environmentally-friendly and sustainable way life.
Transitions believe that a healthier, more social, cheaper, less stressful and more enjoyable way of life can be achieved through ma move towards a way of life that is less dependent on fossil-fuels and produces less carbon.
That change involves consuming less and producing more of what we need ourselves, and living more locally with better community links.
With a grant from Reading Borough Council, we’ve set up the DraughtBusters project to help improve conditions in draughty homes. The volunteer team visit people’s homes and perform minor repairs and alterations to stop draughts and heat loss. Often this is simple things like blocking up gaps around doors, windows and floorboards. The work aims to improve the energy efficiency of homes in simple ways that reduce bills and improve comfort.
