Quakers are a faith group who try to live in truth, peace, simplicity and equality, finding God in everyone including ourselves. We have roots in Christianity but value the insights of other faiths as well. Quakers are also known as the Society of Friends.
All are welcome at public meetings for Quaker worship, held in Reading on Sundays at 10:30 am, and Wednesdays at 12:15 pm. There is no programme or leader in Quaker worship, instead, we wait for spiritual leading. Anyone may speak if they feel called to do so, but often Meetings for worship are largely silent.
A number of Quaker groups and other activities take place during the week.
The five rooms at Reading Quaker meeting house seat between six and 180 people, and are available to hire. They provide a quiet venue near the town centre for meetings and other events. For more details see midthamesquakers.org.uk/reading-room-hire.
