Hope into Action Reading is a registered charity whose unique purpose is to enable churches to house the homeless. We are an affiliate of the national parent charity, Hope into Action, based in Peterborough.

We provide not just shelter and housing know-how but also friendship. Currently we run 5 houses (one of them in Wokingham), one for women and their children, 4 for men. We can offer housing for a wide range of ‘homeless’ people. Each house is partnered with a local church whose members offer friendship and support. In addition, an ’Empowerment Worker’ works with the residents to help them through the financial and social problems they face, with the aim of returning them to employment and regular accommodation.

The tragedy of homelessness is in every community. We believe that with our help, you and your church can do something about it.
