Daybreak is a registered charity that helps vulnerable members of our society, particularly children and young people at risk of neglect or abuse who may be taken into care if a better alternative cannot be found.
We do this by means of Family Group Conferences (FGCs). These are part of a carefully managed process that leads to the vulnerable person’s extended family coming together and creating its own plan to look after them and ensure their safety. Throughout this process, the family are given information, guidance and support to help them make the best possible decisions.
Once the proposed plan is approved by social services or a court, it is put into practice and monitored to ensure that the vulnerable person is well cared for. It enables them to remain cherished, safe and happy within their own extended family, rather than being entrusted to the care of strangers.
