Did you know that there is no hospice for children in Berkshire? Neither do most parents who receive the devastating diagnosis that their child has a life-threatening or life-limiting condition.

Fiona and John Devine, from Windsor, were in that position when they were told their four-year-old son, Alexander, had a brain tumour. Sadly, after a brave battle, Alexander died. But inspired by his courage, spirit and determination, other children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and their families, can rely on Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service. We provide specialist palliative care, respite and support in their own homes, completely free of charge.

As well as fundraising to meet the growing need for this service, the charity is raising an extra £5m to build the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice. A six acre plot, near Maidenhead, has been gifted by a landowner, full planning permission has been granted and the designs have been drawn up. With your help, building work can start at the end of this year, so the children’s hospice can open in 2016.
