Reading Mencap is launching an exciting new club for young people with learning disabilities aged 18-25.
The Saturday 18 – 25 Club will offer young people the chance to have fun and meet others. A host of activities will be offered including sport, gaming, drama and making music. Members will also get out and about in the local community.
The Club Leader will have responsibility for the development and management of the club, the activities, the Deputy Club Leader, Club Assistant and volunteers.
The Club Leader will have additional paid working hours for planning and setting and clearing up.
This role will suit a calm and well organised person who has experience of working with young people with learning disabilities in either a care or educational setting.
Tasks will include planning the club’s programme, leading the weekly sessions, safeguarding, keeping accurate records and carrying out risk assessments.
A good standard of spoken and written English is required along with basic IT and administrative skills. An NVQ Level 2 or higher in care or its equivalent is desirable.
The job holder will be subject to a successful Enhanced DBS check.
