An opportunity to lead a pilot project for green social prescribing which we hope will result in a longer term position as part of the team at the award-winning Ridgeline Therapeutic Garden
We offer social and therapeutic horticulture to help people with experience of physical and mental disabilities and other special needs. With our support, clients recover and develop their skills, confidence and self-esteem and enjoy social communication.
We now seek to extend our services to clients whose mental health has worsened as a result of Covid-19 through a project piloting the benefits of green social prescribing, in collaboration with Social Prescribers at a local health centre in Reading.
We are looking for a gardener with experience of working with mental illness and other disabilities, ideally with recognised qualifications in Horticultural Therapy, to deliver a 12 week programme. The sessions will be limited to 4-8 patients each week and will be developed to suit to a range of patient needs. We are hoping this project can be extended so it will be important to carefully monitor and record client progress and outcomes.
Initially for a fixed term of four months for 6 hours per week on Monday morning or afternoon.
