We are seeking a confident problem-solver to join our busy Family Support Service as a Family Adviser.
The postholder will make a big difference to people’s lives by providing information, advice and advocacy to resolve issues affecting them due to learning disability.
This can include:
- Understanding, using and appealing the benefits system
- Understanding local social housing structures and systems
- Access to Social Care services including care assessments, care planning and appealing charges for care
- Managing debt
- Reporting hate crime and harassment
- Safeguarding referrals, Deprivation of Liberty
- Child protection and support for Court of Protection
- Adults detained under the Mental Health Act.
Work is undertaken through home visits, attending and accompanying clients to meetings, reviews, tribunals, appeals and Family Courts and through carer and adult support and social groups.
The ideal candidate will be calm, non-judgemental, persistent, a good communicator and enjoy working as part of a team. They must also have good problem-solving abilities.
The role would suit someone with experience in this field and/or a qualification or experience in a care related profession.
