Cianna’s Smile supports families affected by Sickle Cell across the UK by reducing isolation, providing education, and raising awareness, including blood donation. As a largely volunteer-led charity with two part-time staff, we are seeking a Community Engagement Officer (15 hours per week) to join our team.

Key responsibilities:
Build and maintain relationships with community groups, healthcare organisations, and partners to connect individuals and families impacted by Sickle Cell. Organise and support events, workshops, and activities that raise awareness and encourage community participation. Develop strategies to grow and engage our network, especially reaching those less able to access support. Coordinate events, manage outreach, and share information through social media, newsletters, and other channels. Represent Cianna’s Smile within the community, advocate for beneficiaries, and identify new opportunities to engage and support families.

Ideal candidate:
Empathetic, community-focused, and passionate about supporting families affected by Sickle Cell. Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with experience (or enthusiasm) for event coordination and outreach. Confident with basic administration and record-keeping. Culturally aware and committed to inclusion, with a collaborative, proactive approach and a passion for empowering young people and communities.
