Reading Mencap is seeking an enthusiastic, confident, self-starter to join our small fundraising team to promote awareness of our work and increase voluntary income.
The postholder will develop and deliver a comprehensive Community Engagement Fundraising plan, which will encourage fundraising within the local community. One of the most important aspect of this role involves developing and nurturing relationships with individuals, groups of supporters, volunteers and potential funders. The postholder will also devise, lead and manage a major events programme, including our annual music festival Are You Listening?
The ideal candidate will relish the variety this role brings: recruiting volunteers, sourcing raffle prizes, setting budgets for events, creating social media content, carrying out research and so much more. Ideally, you will have significant experience of generating income, ideally in a community (or other related) fundraising role in a charity – however, a drive and commitment to sell the charity are more important than fundraising experience.
