Overview
Join us for a powerful session exploring the findings from a major new research project on the experiences of black teenage girls and young women in sport and physical activity. Whether you’re a coach, teacher, youth worker, or policymaker working to support black girls and women to be more active (across a variety of sectors, Health, Education, Community, Leisure), this session will offer vital insights into her world and the importance of creating more inclusive, joyful, and supportive spaces for black girls to thrive in sport. Drawing on the voices of black girls from across the UK, we’ll unpack the structural and cultural barriers they face, from invisibility and stereotypes to haircare, safety and representation – and highlight what trust, belonging, and opportunity really look like for them.
