Keeping everybody safe: Reading VCS Safety and Safeguarding Forum

Tuesday 17 June 2025
Keeping everybody safe is an increasing priority for many VCS organisations

We will discuss how you can be supported to protect your community members, service users, as well as staff and volunteers. Join us to hear from statutory partners and share your experiences as we discuss the following:

  • An Adult Safeguarding Escalation Process: developing a process with the Berkshire West Safeguarding Adults Board SAB to ensure your organisation can escalate a concern when a referral is rejected or if there’s disagreement between agencies.
  • Safeguarding Adult Reviews: SARs are initiated by the SAB when someone dies or there’s been significant harm. An independent investigation and report is carried out with learning points and actions for all cross sector partners. Find out how you can contribute to improve the system and mitigate future risk.
  • Prevent Action Plan: increasing extremism in society is both an actual threat and contributing to rising anxiety. Help shape the Prevent Action Plan to reduce extremism in all its forms.
  • Community Safety and Martyn’s Law: how can you be supported to take simple steps to protect people attending your services and activities.
