Would you like to gain a better basic understanding of charity finances?

The aim of this one hour online session is to help you understand the basics of charity finances, whether you are a trustee, a staff member or volunteer, so that you can feel more confident in understanding charity finances or processes, and making good financial decisions if you are a trustee.

This is our entry level training – we also have a more in-depth session (see our training page). You can attend either or both.

Who should attend this training?

This 1 hour online lunchtime session is aimed at non-finance professionals, who either work in a management role in a charity or volunteer as a trustee. You do not need to be a treasurer to attend this training. (We offer separate in-depth Treasurer Training for Treasurers, see our training page).

Please note that this session is only available for charities or community groups offering services in Reading.

What will the session cover?

The session will take you through key terms and practices in charity finances. It is designed to give you some basic skills and confidence so you can better understand financial information in a charity context.

Who will deliver the training?

RVA consultant trainer, Rachel Eden of Holybrook Associates will deliver this training. Rachel is a chartered accountant with many years’ experience of charity finances and accounts.

This session will be delivered online via Zoom and a booking link will be sent out to you in advance, usually a few days before the session.

Cost and delivery

We have secured the following subsidised rates for charities or community groups delivering services in Reading:

Small Groups Rate £10

(We define small groups those with a gross annual income under £100K and mainly run by volunteers)

Standard Rate £15

14+ days notice – full refund

7-14 days notice – 50% discount

Less than 7 days notice – no refund unless there are extenuating circumstances.
