Younger People with Dementia (YPWD) is a registered charity which was set up in 2012 to fill a gap in provision for those with young onset dementia and their family and carers. Our aim is to support people diagnosed and living with young onset dementia (YOD) under the age of 65 through providing meaningful and age-appropriate services, whilst also delivering support sessions for family members and loved ones. The support provided gives participants opportunities to socialise and take part in meaningful activities which have been shown to enhance mood, reduce stress, build confidence and maintain skills. At the same time families and carers benefit from respite while their loved one attends our support sessions.
