Community Justice Panels (CJP) are a new initiative and we are looking for community volunteers.
A Community Justice panel is a meeting held with young people (aged 10 to 17) who have offended, their families and any victims of their crime who wish to attend. The meetings aim to establish what harm has been caused and how it can be repaired or put right.
The CJP only deals with young people who have admitted to their crime and are willing to engage in a restorative meeting.
Being a community justice panel volunteer will require you to commit to 12 hours of training which will equip you to perform the role. On successful completion of the training panel volunteers will be expected to attend 8 panels a year held after 6 pm during the week. Each panel could take as long as 3 hours.
