Alcohol Identification and Brief Advice for VCS frontline staff and volunteers

Wednesday 22 May 2024
How to identify individuals whose drinking might impact their health, now or in the future and to deliver simple, structured advice.

Reading Voluntary Action has received funding to deliver an in-person 16-month Community Wellbeing Training Programme in our town centre training suite, for health and wellbeing practitioners (open to paid staff and volunteers) active in local voluntary and community organisations (VCOs).

Tessa Brunsden from Reading Borough Council’s Trading Standards team will be delivering this half-day session for staff and volunteers in a frontline role.

This training will show you how you can have non-confrontational, motivational conversations with your clients to help them think about changing their drinking habits or making a plan to change their drinking behaviours in order to reduce their alcohol consumption and their risk of harm, whilst having the required information to be able to signpost more dependant drinkers to the drug and alcohol Services that are available to them in Reading.
