Thanks to everyone who attended the Community Buildings Forum on 3 September 2024. Once again this was a well attended session with plenty of opportunity for networking and a diverse range of speakers/topics, including

  • the ‘third sector process’ i.e. how RBC releases properties and assets to the sector
  • voluntary sector groups who have space to rent/lease (including YMCA Reading, RCLC, Christian Community Action, and RISC)
  • the Libraries team updated us about spaces available to hire
  • commercial agents, Hicks Baker gave us an overview of commercial buildings
  • Thames Valley Police shared information on safety in community buildings and neighbourhood policing
  • buildings related funding opportunities

Feedback from attendees:

Very informative, provided excellent information, and was clear

The timing was excellent and I came away feeling more confident

The format of the presentations from various individual organisations and the opportunity to talk with them afterwards was well time and organised.

Further information is awaited from RBC on the Pavillions Space and properties that will be released to the sector later in the Autumn, and this will be shared through our news page and digest when they become available, so watch this space.

We will also share information from Thames Valley Police, with contact details for contacting the Neighbourhood teams if you want to discuss community safety in your spaces/buildings and how you can gain support from the police with this.

The next forum will be in the New Year and booking information will be shared later in the Autumn. If you have any specific topics that you would like covered, please get in touch at advice@rva.org.uk

You’re also welcome to get in touch for 1:1 advice in the meantime, also at advice@rva.org.uk
