The Refugee Support Group’s new Sanctuary Café is open! Last week, it was all hands on deck and our CEO up a ladder cleaning windows in preparation for the launch. Reading Mayor, Cllr Paul Gittings officially opened the café by cutting the ribbon and serving the very first cup of coffee.

The café is located at 35–39 London Street and is open Tues-Fri from 8am to 2pm & Saturday 8am to 4pm.
About the Sanctuary café
With our vision of creating a welcoming and inclusive Berkshire, RSG aims to ensure that every sanctuary seeker is embraced and valued within the community. Our mission is to provide comprehensive support and advocacy for refugees and people seeking sanctuary, promoting their wellbeing, integration and active participation in society. The Sanctuary Café is an extension of that mission, creating a welcoming space where the wider community can come together while also providing training opportunities and pathways into employment.
A welcoming community space in the historic RISC building on London Street. serving freshly prepared meals and speciality coffee made by refugee chefs, cooks and baristas. Every purchase directly supports our work helping sanctuary seekers rebuild their lives.
We will also offer barista apprenticeships, helping sanctuary seekers build real skills and move into employment opportunities. In the afternoons, the café becomes a hub for support where we deliver our many services.
