Reading Climate Change Partnership (RCCP) is currently between two Climate Emergency Strategies, so the Lead Comms Volunteer will be tasked with community-building tasks during this interim period (i.e. until mid 2025). In early to mid-2025, we will develop a more long-term comms strategy which supports the promotion and delivery of the new Climate Emergency Strategy for 2025 – 2030.

Tasks involved in this role:

  • Develop ReadingCAN social media strategy, with support from RCCP Co-ordinator
  • Develop comms metrics and recruit additional volunteer help to manage a programme of impact measurement.
  • Develop and deliver a process for gathering news from local climate groups.
  • Produce blogs for the “Who’s doing what about climate and biodiversity in Reading?” blog series, using interviews. (Recruit additional writers if necessary.)
  • Deliver one newsletter every two months.
  • Help build a Reading Climate Communications Alliance, with support from the RCCP Co-ordinator.
  • Deliver social media content across Instagram, X and Facebook.
  • Build a photo gallery for use by ReadingCAN, working with local photographers.
  • Help recruit additional volunteers to support with above tasks, as needed.

Interested? Please email gudrun.freese@readingcan.org.uk to discuss the role.
We are keen to work with an experienced comms lead as well as less experienced supporting comms roles.
