NHS Check in and Chat relaunch

The NHS Check in and Chat service that was set up as part of the NHS Responders initiative at the beginning of the pandemic, is being relaunched.  A more intensive offer called Check in and Chat Plus will be launched shortly afterwards.

Check In and Chat is back. We know these friendly phone calls were much valued by clients and volunteers during the pandemic and it has become clear from feedback from health professionals that there is a need for them now.

Over recent months, they have been engaging with referrers to refresh and reshape the service, to meet the needs of patients and service users now.  They will be recruiting new volunteers to take the calls and, where appropriate, signpost callers to local VCS services.

At the Befriending Forum on 23 March, 1-2.30,  Alison Waters, RVS Regional Relationship Manager for London and the South East will present on the relaunched NHS Check in and Chat service and participate in a workshop where we explore the impact this may have on local volunteer recruitment and local VCS services.
