Healthwatch Reading and Wokingham Borough are working in collaboration with Reading and Wokingham Borough Councils and Age UK Berkshire to explore the experience of unpaid male carers.
Carers UK defines an unpaid carer as someone who is providing unpaid care and support to a family member, partner, friend, or neighbour who is disabled, has an illness or long-term condition, or who needs extra help as they get older. This support could be a few hours a week, or it could be round the clock care.
Many men don’t identify as carers – they see themselves as husband, partner, dad, son, which is a recognised barrier to accessing services. To investigate this further we would like to invite a group of men who have a caregiving role to help co-design this project.

We would appreciate you attending an initial face-to-face workshop either in Reading or Wokingham to explore the best way to deliver this project.
