As part of studying for a degree in Education Studies, our undergraduate students are required to undertake a series of visit days to a learning environment. This forms part of their professional development module in which they need to gain experience in an education and learning context.
For the visit day, students will attend in group of 3-5 and will need to spend a working day in a learning environment in order to:
- Observe how learning takes place
- Reflect on the skills, values, and knowledge that are required to be a professional in that field
- Consider how that fits with their own skills and dispositions
- Develop an understanding of how they can prepare for working in that field
As it’s just a visit, there is no requirement for students to actively participate, they can simply observe. However, if there are opportunities for the students to deliver or more actively take part, we would be very happy for them to do so.
Additionally, although we understand DBS checks are common-place in educational institutions, students have to pay for these with their own money. We are therefore asking, where possible, for visit day providers to allow students to visit without the need for a DBS check. As students will be supervised while in the learning environment, we hope this will be acceptable.
The dates the students have allocated for their visit days are:
-
- 28th October 2022
- 2nd December 2022
- 3rd February 2023
If you are able to offer a visit day on one, some, or all of these dates, it would be greatly appreciated. To offer a visit day to our students, please complete the below form so we can get in touch:
