Administration volunteer needed for Reading Voluntary Action (RVA) in RG1

Reading Voluntary Action is working in partnership with Age UK Berkshire to deliver a Social Prescribing service which aims to link patients with voluntary and community activities to support their health and wellbeing. It is about connecting people to non-medical sources of support.

We receive referrals from GPs and practice staff, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists as well as Social Workers at Reading Borough Council

We are seeking a volunteer to support our team of Social Prescribers.  This will include:

  • liaising with patients and GP practices to arrange appointments
  • researching activities and support to meet individual patients’ needs
  • managing our referral database
  • photocopying (and shredding) confidential paperwork

You also need to be computer literate and be able to input information into our database.  You will be a good team player, confident on the telephone and capable of working under pressure.

You would be working in a supportive environment and will be provided with the necessary training with an opportunity to learn new skills.
