Reception / Meet and greet volunteers needed for Reading Museum in RG1
We are looking for more people to join our team of volunteer tour guides at Reading Museum, on Saturday lunchtimes, once or twice a month, from April.
Help us spread the word about the exciting activities and events we have planned for the Reading Abbey Quarter. Share our enthusiasm for the site where Henry I was buried, Jane Austen was taught and Oscar Wilde was imprisoned.
As a volunteer tour guide, you will deliver 40 minute tours to the general public, within Reading Museum, focussing on the town’s rich heritage and the museum’s collections.
The tour will comprise of an update on our ambitious plans for the Reading Abbey Quarter including the fascinating history of the site from prehistoric times to the modern day and the impact of the Abbey on the town. This will be followed by a short introduction to the museum’s galleries, picking out a few interesting objects and telling the stories behind them to bring Reading’s history to life.
You will receive full training (on weekdays) and the opportunity to help the museum develop the content of the tours.
