We are looking for an IT literate volunteer who can help out, as and when required. Hours are flexible to suit individual
Training will be given on both the practical element and understanding of Samaritan’s ethos.
Tasks may involve;
– Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
– Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving or referring on any hardware/ software faults as appropriate
– Providing support to all volunteers where needed, including procedural documentation
– Supporting the roll-out of new hardware or software
– Setting up new users’ accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues
– Liaising with General Office about any continuing IT problems if these would result in prolonged loss of service
Qualities & Experience
– Understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality about sensitive information encountered within Samaritans
– Practical experience of a variety of IT tools
– Approachable & organised
– Able to communicate IT support needs to the Deputy Director for Operations and if required the Branch Director and Branch Committee as appropriate
– Ability to motivate and encourage, particularly those who are not confident with new technologies.
– Understanding of Samaritans Vision, Mission, & Values
