Support volunteers needed for Berkshire Women’s Aid
Berkshire Women’s Aid (BWA) are seeking female volunteers to support our refuge workers and residents to provide a safe space to stay for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
After comprehensive training volunteers will undertake a number of tasks which might include:
- Assisting residents with settling into the refuge
- accompanying residents to appointments
- assisting residents in accessing benefits, housing, education and training
- co-facilitating small groups i.e. health & wellbeing, cookery, arts & crafts
- completing daily check lists within the refuge
- supporting residents with the move on and resettlement process.
Volunteers for this role will need to demonstrate a mature, empathetic and non-judgemental attitude to our service users. Good communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and to respect and maintain confidentiality are essential.

Training will consist of an introduction to BWA and its work, professional boundaries, domestic violence and access to relevant E-learning resources.
