Support volunteers needed for Berkshire Women’s Aid

Berkshire Women’s Aid (BWA) are seeking female volunteers to support our refuge workers and residents to provide a safe space to stay for women and children fleeing domestic violence.

After comprehensive training volunteers will undertake a number of tasks which might include:

  • Assisting residents with settling into the refuge
  • accompanying residents to appointments
  • assisting residents in accessing benefits, housing, education and training
  • co-facilitating small groups i.e. health & wellbeing, cookery, arts & crafts
  • completing daily check lists within the refuge
  • supporting residents with the move on and resettlement process.

Volunteers for this role will need to demonstrate a mature, empathetic and non-judgemental attitude to our service users. Good communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and to respect and maintain confidentiality are essential.
