This opportunity can be shaped by the volunteer who will be able to decide on the number and timing of the hours they will work.
The main tasks are:
- building and maintaining an excel spreadsheet with volunteering enquiries and requirements (informal training will be provided if required)
- advertising volunteering opportunities with local Volunteering Centres across the team’s region, the Guide Dogs’ website, and social media
- removing advertisements when posts have been filled
These are development potentials for the volunteer:
- opportunity to be the key person keeping staff members and potential volunteers up to date
- flexibility to re-word advertisements to try and find the right people
- a willing candidate could be upskilled to deliver the pre-screening conversation with potential new volunteers
- training on our tracking system to follow up volunteers who are ‘stuck’ in the process
- training on our volunteer data base
- there may be occasions where you have the opportunity to get involved in other areas, such as attending Events
We would like our volunteer to:
- be a good communicator
- have good interpersonal skills
- have a good telephone manner
- have a knowledge of Word, Outlook and Excel
- be able to work as part of a team and independently
- be flexible
- be friendly and approachable
The volunteer will:
- have an opportunity to build experience for your CV
- have an understanding of how the different parts of Guide Dogs work
