Do you want an opportunity to gain working experience of volunteer development and management while making a real contribution to improving the lives of people with learning disabilities and autism?
We are looking for a volunteer who will use their knowledge of the Reading/Wokingham/Bracknell area to help deliver a volunteering programme that has a large and valuable impact.
As a Community Volunteering Co-ordinator, you will act as the eyes, ears, mouth and hands of Volunteering at Dimensions in this area. With extensive guidance and support from our central volunteering team, you will use and develop your skills and knowledge to make volunteering work in your specific region.Because this role carries lots of responsibility, Dimensions will ensure that volunteers are trained, supported, and equipped to feel confident in their role.
The role will cover the whole of Reading, Wokingham, and Bracknell. Travel will likely be required, it is therefore desirable that applicants either can drive and have access to a vehicle, or have good access to public transport. Dimensions will reimburse all agreed travel expenses.
We estimate that this role will require the equivalent to 1 day a week in time from a volunteer. This amount will vary week-to-week and may be spread across several days. The successful applicant will therefore need to have some flexibility and be committed. We ask applicants to be prepared to commit at least 6 months to this role.
If you are interested in this role but are uncertain about flexibility or time requirements, please contact us to discuss how the role could work for you.
This role will provide many opportunities to develop employability skills and experience. Dimensions will be very happy to provide references to volunteers in their future applications.
Your duties will include:
- Being our representative to local volunteer centre(s):
- being the point of contact for volunteer centre staff
- keeping our information and roles up to date with them via regular emails
- attending relevant training and networking events on our behalf
- Finding and connecting us with local organisations who we could partner with to offer/fill volunteering opportunities.
- Advertising volunteer roles in community spaces by distributing posters and flyers.
- Assisting volunteers who don’t have computer literacy to complete online application forms and online training.
- Maintaining our local volunteer database.
- Being part of an interview panel for some volunteer roles.
- Working with the central volunteering team to identify potential new projects.
- Helping deliver local volunteering projects.
About you
The ideal candidate for this role will be well organised and reliable with strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to use standard office software and experience of volunteering would be desirable. We would like the volunteer to be in a position to commit for at least 6 months.
