We need your help to get the local community active!
Get Berkshire Active (the County Sport and Physical Activity Partnership) are seeking Volunteer Community Exercise Leaders to deliver Oomph sessions in Reading and West Berkshire as part of the Ever Active programme which targets Older Adults and aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness.
Oomph provides training and support to up-skill community volunteers, equipping them with the skills to have an impact on the mental, physical and emotional well being of Older Adults.
Get Berkshire Active are working with Oomph to fund the training costs of 6 volunteers to gain an Oomph qualification. In return these volunteers will support the Ever Active programme. Volunteers will be expected to deliver Oomph sessions in their local community for older adults.
Personality traits and skills of a Community Exercise Leader…..
We are seeking individuals that are supportive, encouraging, enthusiastic, warm and inclusive.
You will need good communication and motivational skills.
Strong planning, organisation, time management and leadership skills are also desirable.
You don’t need to be sporty and you don’t need to possess any exercise/fitness qualifications. Interested individuals will be required to complete an application form and interview. A DBS check may be required.
Training will be taking place on the 10th and 12th of October at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Tilehurst, RG30 4PE.
