Build a friendship with a young person and ensure their voice is heard

Befriending / Visiting volunteers needed for Action for Children

We are seeking volunteers to act as Independent Visitors who can commit to spending one day a month visiting a young person with the hope of building a long term friendship based on shared interests.

Working with a young person, the focus of the role is to:

  • Introduce them new hobbies
  • build their confidence
  • help them have fun
  • to be a consistent and reliable support and mentor.

The role also involves acting as an advocate for the young person, ensuring their voice is heard when decisions are being made about their future during meetings and reviews or whilst accessing service.

The volunteer acts as someone who is independent and has no agenda other than the needs and wishes of the young person.
