Trustee / Committee volunteers needed for Smart Works Reading

All Smart Works Trustees are extraordinarily dedicated to the work we do, and their commitment is highly valued. Our belief is that each and every client deserves the highest level of service and care from the moment they walk through our door. It is therefore important that we share our expectations with you at the beginning of your Smart Works journey.

We expect all Trustees to ensure they are aware of and adhere to the approach we take with our clients and each other as set out below:
– We treat our clients with dignity, respect and compassion at all times.
– Our approach with clients is non-judgmental. Clients may have experienced serious challenges and being listened to with care and patience can be a transformational experience for them.
– Building trust is fundamental.
– A high level of professional conduct must be maintained at all times.
– Upon joining the team we expect you to honour your commitment to us and our clients as you would any other professional contract.

Trustees make sure the charity is running well and is doing what it was set up to do. As a smaller charity our Trustees take on a lot of the work of running the charity.

Trustee overall expectations:
• always act in the best interests of the charity
• act reasonably and responsibly in all matters relating to your charity
• only use your charity’s income and property for the purposes set out in its governing document
• make decisions in line with good practice and the rules set by your charity’s governing document, including excluding any trustee who has a conflict of interest from discussions or decision-making on the matter
• become familiar with the ethos behind Smart Works the mission, vision and services

Specific role expectations:
Smart Works are looking for 2 Trustees to play a key role on the Board , in helping the charity to meet its financial objectives of core running costs and growth.
– We are looking for someone with skills & experience in fundraising; (event’s and trust applications).
– We need someone who has time to take on small projects/activities from start to completion.
– We are also interested in someone with past Charity board experience.
