Introduction – overview of the funding

This micro-funding is designed to support grassroots creativity in the Whitley and Church wards in South Reading.

This programme aims to support creative activity by offering small-scale funding of either £250 or £500 to cultural organisations and practitioners, who are deeply rooted in their communities.

Who is eligible to apply?
  • Individuals, informal groups, or small organisations
  • People who live in or work with communities in Whitley and Church in South Reading
  • Those with a passion for creativity and community, whether experienced or just starting out

You don’t need to be a registered organisation or have previous funding experience. We’re especially keen to hear from people who are underrepresented in arts and culture.

What are the funder priorities?

Projects that:

  • Are community-led or community-supported
  • Encourage creative expression and collaboration
  • Address local needs or aspirations through arts and culture
  • Require a small amount of funding to get started or grow
How much can organizations apply for?

Grants of either £250 or £500

You can choose to apply for either amount depending on the scale and needs of your project.

What the funding can be used for

Micro Grants can be used for a wide range of costs, including:

  • Art materials and equipment
  • Venue hire or space rental
  • Marketing and promotion
  • Artist or facilitator fees
  • Transport or refreshments
  • Costs related to inclusive access (e.g. translation, BSL interpretation)

They are open to creative ideas. If you’re unsure whether your costs are eligible, feel free to ask.

Yes, the deadline is midnight on 20 October 2025
