Part-time Information Officer – closing date 30 Sep 2023

Reading Deaf Centre promotes independence and equality of opportunity for Deaf people living in the communities of Reading, Wokingham and the surrounding area.

We are looking to recruit a part-time Information Officer for our drop-in Centre in Cardiff Road, Reading to:

  • Provide guidance, assistance and sign-posting to visiting clients from the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community.
  • Maintain a database of local statutory services available to benefit the deaf and hard of hearing community.

The successful candidate should have a minimum level 4 BSL (British Sign Language) or appropriate experience and English skills, with the ability to work independently. An IAG (Information, Advice & Guidance) qualification would be beneficial.

Currently the Information Office is open Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday 9.30am to 1pm. While we can negotiate on some flexibility to these hours, they must be fixed, so that clients are aware when the office is open.

The starting salary is negotiable and will be based on an hourly rate between £13 – £18 per hour, dependant on experience and qualifications.

A detailed job description outlining the various duties is available on request. We are also recruiting for a separate post of part time Centre Co-ordinator; if a suitable candidate with all the relevant skills is available, there is the possibility it could suit one person.
