LLOYDS BANK FOUNDATION FOR ENGLAND AND WALES – RACIAL EQUITY GRANTS.

This programme is for registered charities and community interest companies (CICs) working with people experiencing inequity because of their race or ethnicity. Your organisation will be led by the communities you serve and alongside providing immediate crisis support, you will work with people over the longer term to help them break free from poverty and achieve their potential.

What are the funder’s priorities?

They are more likely to fund organisations that demonstrate the following:

• Understanding of additional barriers: The organisations that demonstrate a deep understanding of and have a strong track record of delivering services to people experiencing additional barriers because of age, gender reassignment, being married or in a civil partnership, being pregnant, disability, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.

• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion: means that you will have a clear and agreed approach that enables all people to receive your services including those with protected characteristics.
• Understanding of trauma: They will partner with charities that recognise the widespread impact of trauma, and the symptoms of trauma in clients and communities, and understand the potential pathways for recovery.
• Strengths-based practice: they will partner with organisations that place individual needs at the heart of any support, focusing on identifying strengths and goals and allowing the person to take responsibility for their journey of change.

• Organisational development support: they will only fund organisations that can demonstrate an understanding of their own organisational challenges and have the interest and the time to address these.

Who is eligible to apply?

In this programme they will fund registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs) and community interest companies (CICs). Please refer to the specific criteria for your organisation. Or complete this quick eligibility quiz here.

How much can you apply for?

 A total of £3 million will be awarded in 2023. Successful applicants will receive grants of £75,000, over three years (£25,000 per year). The grants will be unrestricted, meaning that grant holders will be able to use the grant to support any costs that further their organisation’s social purpose. They are expecting to make 40 grants in total.

• 31 May 2023: Deadline for applications.
• The application system will remain open until 5pm 11 October 2023. They will let organisations know whether you have been awarded funding or not by this date at the latest.
