Berkshire Women’s Aid launch two new programmes for children and young people in Reading

Berkshire Women’s Aid (BWA) are excited to announce the launch of two new programmes in the Reading area for children and young people, and a new programme for perpetrators of domestic abuse.

Expect Respect – referrals open now

Expect Respect works with children aged 5-17 who have experienced domestic abuse delivering age appropriate activities that are designed to be fun and engaging. Our team of specialist workers support children and young people to resolve conflicts, safety plan and enhance their self-esteem tackling issues of domestic abuse in a safe and contained way.

Domestic Abuse Recovery Together (DART) – referrals open now

Domestic Abuse Recovery Together (DART) works with children aged 7–14 and their mother who have experienced domestic abuse. The focus is on enhancing the mother/child relationship and helping them overcome the adverse effects of abuse.

Aim for Change – referrals open 1 April 2022

Aim for Change is BWA’s new programme for perpetrators of domestic abuse. The programme provides integrated survivor support to manage risk and provide support to survivors in their own right. Aim for Change is focused on increasing understanding of domestic abuse and participant’s accountability, with the aim of reducing abusive behaviour. Sessions for professionals on how this programme works with those perpetrating abuse and supports those at risk with be forthcoming in April and May; further details on these sessions will be provide in due course.
