Citizens Advice Reading is a very busy town centre Advice Service. We see 7000 clients a year on all sorts of matters and they come from a wide range of backgrounds. Clients often visit us in times of crisis and we work with them to help them with the challenges they are facing.
We are currently looking for volunteers who could work both on reception and in the back office as administrators to support our advice service. On reception you would be the first point of contact for our clients when they visit us. Your role would be to register clients, to allocate the appointments, to photocopy confidential paperwork and to liaise closely with the Supervisor regarding ongoing matters. As an administrator you would be responsible for searching and registering clients answering the telephone, photocopying, sending text messages and other general administration tasks.
For this role you need to have good interpersonal skills, be patient and be comfortable liaising with a wide range of people. You also need to be computer literate and be able to input information into a client database. You will be a good team player and capable of working under pressure.
You would be working in a supportive environment and will be provided with the necessary training with an opportunity to learn new skills.
Citizens Advice values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We encourage and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic people, as they are currently under-represented in our workforce.
