Team Reading & Ambassador Reserve List

Could you be an ambassador for our wonderful town?

During September and October, international art organisation Art Angel will be opening Reading Prison for a unique art event.  Art Angel specialise in presenting extraordinary art in unexpected places.

For ‘INSIDE’, leading artists, performers and writers will be responding to the work of Reading Prison’s most famous inmate, Oscar Wilde, as well as the architecture of the prison and the themes of imprisonment and enforced separation. INSIDE will form part of Reading 2016, Reading’s Year of Culture.

Art Angel expects to attract visitors from throughout the UK and from overseas.

As a Town Ambassador, you will help run a unique mobile ‘Welcome to Reading’ arts installation based on the forecourt at Reading Station.  Armed with information provided by Reading UK CIC about Reading Year of Culture and Reading town centre, added to your own knowledge of Reading, you will welcome visitors to Reading, direct people to the prison and advise them on what else they can make the most of their time in Reading.

What you will bring:

  • A lively and outgoing manner.
  • The ability to engage with a wide range of members of the public.
  • Sound knowledge of Reading, supplemented by information provided by Reading UK CIC.
  • A desire to help people discover the many attractions Reading has to offer.

What we can offer:

  • The chance to join together with a troupe of like minded people.
  • A t-shirt to promote your ambassadorial role.
  • A chance to learn more about the art scene in Reading.
  • Free entry for you and a friend to the Prison Exhibition.

Don’t delay, sign-up to one of our selection and briefing days NOW by completing the form found HERE!
