Green Engagement Worker – closing date 18 February 2026

Do you like nature? Do you like talking to people?

Reading Green Wellbeing Network is a group of local nature-based activity providers. To spread the word about the benefits of nature and the local opportunities for connecting with nature we are looking for a freelance worker. They will go to public in-person events over the year (total of 80 hours) and engage with people.

This will suit someone who:

  • has enthusiasm for nature and an understanding of the physical and mental health benefits of engaging with nature
  • is willing to learn about RGWN members and what they offer
  • is outgoing, willing and able to engage with all kinds of communities
  • is organised – able to prepare and attend events as agreed
  • is able to report back from events in writing
  • and who is reliable and trustworthy.

This is a freelance role to be paid at a rate of £25/hour. The worker won’t be provided with a phone or laptop or means of transport. RGWN holds monthly meetings and the outreach worker is welcome to attend them, but attendance will not be paid for more than 2 meetings.

This role is funded by Reading Borough Council.
